Meet Our Team!

Sean K. Borris, LMFT
Therapist & Owner
Hi, I'm Sean. I've been a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist for over ten years. My therapeutic work is motivated by my core belief that all people are able to create change in their lives. I work with individuals over age 14, college students, couples, and families. I have extensive experience in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, parenting struggles, marital issues, addiction, life transitions, and general stressors. I holds post-licensure certification in treating trauma and am trained in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). I am also interested in neuroscience, and the impact of nutrition on mental health.
My approach to therapy is based in general systems theory - a fancy way of saying: therapy that treats the individual as a whole. Therapy, to me, is about revisiting experiences and discovering new ways of coping. I don't ask "how do you feel about that" upteen times! A typical session with me is a client-led processing experience. We'll check in on the events since the previous session, decide what the goal of the session should be, and discuss various ways to work through problems or challenges.

I decided to become a therapist after realizing that I was the friend all my friends came to for help. I realized that helping people is my life's passion. I chose Marriage & Family therapy because I appreciate the focus on relational patterns and systems.
For fun, I enjoy fencing, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and making ice cream.

Sam Barreca, LPC
Therapist
Hi! I'm Sam.
Life has been a lot lately.
I've seen it firsthand. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a school nurse. I noticed that many students weren’t coming to my office for physical issues, but because they were emotionally overwhelmed. They needed more than a bandage — they needed someone to listen, to understand, and to help them navigate anxiety, peer pressure, and emotional stress. That's where everything changed for me, and what ultimately led me to becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor.
That background shapes my approach today. I take a holistic, compassionate approach to counseling. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where clients of all ages can explore their emotions and work towards personal growth. I am passionate about empowering my clients to understand their emotions, improve their relationships, and navigate life's challenges with confidence.

I specialize in working with children, teens, and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship difficulties. Whether I’m helping a young person build emotional resilience or supporting an adult through a difficult chapter, I offer a safe, supportive space where healing and growth are possible
I use evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and mindfulness — but more importantly, I tailor every session to the unique needs of the person in front of me. I believe therapy should feel like a (caring... see what I did there?) conversation with someone who truly sees and supports you. Therapy with me is a safe, non-judgmental space to explore and heal.
If you or someone you love is struggling, you don’t have to do it alone. I'd be honored to help you navigate life's challenges and achieve your goals.

I have four energetic children and live on a farm! My life is full of love (and animal chaos!), but soaking up nature helps keep me grounded.

Charlene DeRito, LPC
Therapist
Hi, I'm Charlene, a dedicated therapist who believes in the power of creativity to foster healing. In our sessions, I often incorporate art, music, games, and other therapeutic tools to create a dynamic and engaging environment tailored to each client's unique needs.
My approach is eclectic and client-centered, drawing from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Gestalt Therapy, and the Gottman Method. I work with individuals aged 5 and up, specializing in areas such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, couples counseling, and custody concerns.
A typical session with me begins by meeting you where you are in the present moment. We'll start with a check-in and then delve into the concerns you wish to address. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, supported, and with a sense of relief.
My passion for helping others was ignited in childhood, inspired by a therapist who made a significant impact on my life. This led me to pursue a career in counseling, where I've been privileged to support clients in various capacities for over a decade. Looking ahead, I aspire to integrate a trained therapy dog into my practice to further enhance the therapeutic experience.
If you're ready to embark on a journey toward healing and growth, I'm here to support you every step of the way. Reach out today and let's chat!

Kaitlyn Borris
Director of Connection & Growth
Hey! I'm Kaitlyn.
I'm responsible for all things social media, website design & upkeep, community outreach, marketing, recruitment, policy development, and maintaining our blog. I love details, data, organization, and research. Don't judge ;) I have years of experience in social work in Westmoreland & Allegheny county and am knowledgeable of many resources available in our community and am sensitive to the barriers people face to those resources. While I am not a therapist, I have built my career on helping people; at Caring Conversations, this passion goes into maintaining our resource binders, having a presence in the community and ensuring that our practice is as accessible as it can be.
For fun, I enjoy traveling and researching places to travel. My ultimate bucket list trip is a cruise around the world. I love music, and find it incredibly healing. I enjoy a good book and all things Disney.
