Summer is here! The sun is shining, school's out, and hopefully you get to enjoy some of the beautiful summer days. We usually make blog posts that appeal to readers around the world, but today, we're getting more niche and focusing on the fun that can be had where our practice is - the Westmoreland County, Allegheny couonty areas. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but does highlight some of our local favorites!

Ways to spend a summer day... In Nature

-Take a hike at Linn Run

-Explore Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve

-Explore a new park (the new Founder's park is amazing!) Last summer, I challenged myself to take my kids to a new-to-us park every week! We had so much fun.

-Go see the waterfall at Buttermilk Falls

Ways to spend a summer day...at the Stadum

-See the Pittsburgh Pirates or Washington Wildthings play.

-Rainy summer day? Tour PPG arena.

Ways to spend a summer day...at the library

-Essentially every local library in the area hosts a summer reading program. Check them out, and while you're there, register for a program (or two, or three. Or ten).

Ways to Spend a summer day... at the amusement park

-Kennywood & Idlewild are essentially in our backyards (don't forget to eat some potato patch!)

-DelGrosso, Knoebels, and Six Flags, are close enough for a weekend trip, too

Ways to spend a summer day... at a festival

-We have too many favorites to name, but a few that we try to go to every year are: The Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival, and the Greek Food Festival in Oakmont. Hello Handmade

Ways to spend a summer day... with an ice cream

-What is more perfect than an ice cream on a hot summer day? Our favorites are The Ligonier Creamery, Millie's, Tastyland and The Parlor.

Ways to spend a summer day... at the splash pad

-I adore splash pads. My kids aren't strong swimmers yet, so I can't safely take them swimming alone. However a splash pad...the kids cool off, burn off energy, we spend time together outside, and no one drowns! It's a win-win-win. We frequent the splash pad at Founder's park, in New Stanton, Murrysville, and at Round Hills. All are free!

There's sooo many fun, memory-making ways to spend our summer. While I know we could have a much lengthier list,
